Here we go again, time for another rant!

If you are a reader of this blog you probably know my car, it’s old ,there is always something that needs to be fixed and i totally love it.

Anyways, there is this one gearbox mounting bracket that is completely broken and really needs to be replaced. I’d usually do this myself or with the help of my stepdad but this bracket is hard to replace without a welder and a nut splitter tool and especially impossible without some kind of lifting platform. Of course i don’t have any of that (yet).
So because this car repair shop – Schaller Leonberg – was recommended to me by my stepdad and since we get 10% off of the labor costs involved, i thought i’d consult them about the whole problem and have them fix it.

Ok i just found out how to get wurm into xfire, it’s a hacky way and will not work 100%.

You can basically add any other game to xfire that way, but it’s a little bit more specific for wurm, since wurm doesn’t run on it’s own executable.

Note:

- Wurm will not show up as wurm, the name is not in.

- You will get statistics

- It bases on the javaw.exe

- you can record ingame footage.

Proof:

Here is how it goes:

1. Go to your java bin folder, example path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin

2. Copy the javaw.exe and rename it to you_are_empty.exe (yes, seriously)

3. create an empty text file and turn it into a *.bat file, name it whatever you want.

4. Get process hacker

It’s open source, you can trust it.

5. Install process hacker, open it

6. Start an instance of wurm

7. Find the entry javaw.exe and double click it.

8. Copy the whole entry “Command Line” in the attributes window of the javaw.exe process

9. Paste this into the empty *.bat file you created, replace all entries of javaw.exe with you_are_empty.exe

10. save it, the java file should be in the bin folder of the java installation you are using. This is what you will use to start wurm in the future, so create a            shortcut to it somewhere if you want.

11. Go to your xfire stuff and open the options.

12. Go to the games tab.

13. Find the game entry “you are empty” (Note: you can use any other game, as long as the game uses the Open GL renderer. If you want to do this, change the other steps according to what your common sense tells you.)

14. Click manual setup and write the path to your you_are_empty.exe in. It is C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin for me.

15. Should be working now. Start wurm over the batch file. If xfire gives you a “you_are_empty.exe not found in blahblah” error, you skipped some steps or did a typo.

As everyone who was not living under a rock most likely noticed, it was time for the games com again. This year in Cologne instead of Leipzig and with even more awesomeness.
